Kingfishers
Laughing Kookaburra's were surprisingly common and widespread with three or more often encountered. Their laughing is the quintessential sound of Australia. The bird above was at the Daisy Hill Koala Refuge south of Brisbane whilst the one below was at the Royal National Park near Sydney.
Collared Kingfishers were fairly common in coastal Queensland, this bird was along the Cairns Esplanade.
Red-backed Kingfisher replaced Forest Kingfisher in the dry Outback around Georgetown where they were fairly common around Cumberland Dam. This bird was photographed at dusk.
