This Black-eared Cuckoo was the only one seen. It came down briefly to the Wattle Dam at Binya State Forest
Tawny Frogmouth's were seen nesting a couple of places though by far and away the best views were at Granite Gorge near Mareeba where a female was on a nest which a chick and these two chicks on a nearby branch. The bird below was part of a pair with two chicks in the nest at the caravan park at Georgetown, they were just by the site office. Clearly a very showy bird.
Papuan Frogmouth's were seen along the Daintree River, two nesting birds, and at Kingfisher Park Birdwatching Lodge near Julatten.
Sizeable flocks of White-rumped Swiftlets were seen at various places in North Queensland with this bird photographed at Daintree Village
Laughing Kookaburra's were surprisingly common and widespread with three or more often encountered. Their laughing is the quintessential sound of Australia. The bird above was at the Daisy Hill Koala Refuge south of Brisbane whilst the one below was at the Royal National Park near Sydney.
