Common at Georgetown around the Green Hills track at Cumberland Dam flocks of several hundred Budgerigars were sometimes encountered. This is a male as identified by the blue cere.
Whose the reddest of them all. Crimson Rosella's were common at O'Reilly's where they would often use birders and their camera equipment as convenient perches whilst waiting to be fed.
The commonest and without doubt the most colourful of the parrot species seen was Rainbow Lorikeet. This stunning species was widespread and seen most places visited.
Not as spectacular as the other Rosellas Pale-headed Rosella it was still engaging in a more subtle way. This bird was in the caravan park grounds at Georgetown
A challenger to the title of most colourful parrot was squarely laid down by the stunning Australian King Parrot. Seen at Lake Eacham, O'Reilly's and Royal National Park it is a widespread species though the best views by far were at O'Reilly's.
