Apart from a couple from the boat out Michalmas Cay the only Whiskered Terns were the 500 or so that were at Five Bough Swamp where they were hawking Locusts that had hatched out in their millions. I was able to get some photographs of them catching these large insects.
Michalmas Cay was the best place to see Crested Tern despite being there to late in the day
Outnumbered by Crested Tern Lesser Crested Terns were still plentiful though never seen on the ground.
Michaelmas Cay has a large Sooty Tern colony with a fair few birds just arms length away, a stunning spectacle, even if only for a short time
In addition to the Sooty Terns Michaelmas Cay has a large number of extremely showy Brown Noddies
