These stunning Gambell's Quails were photogrpahed outside the Sono Bono NWR headquarters in the Wister Unit of southern Salton Sea where there were a couple of reasonably sized covies. nbThis location has several hanging feeders and the birds feed on the spilt grain, this is a guaranteed site for the birds and this is the only place that I had them.  Below are two images of a male followed by two images of a female.
