Glaucous-winged Gull, Adult: Point Pinos, Monterey, California, USA - 26th November 2009
The darker primaries, mid grey upper-parts appear to be a by product of the lighting, or are they? whilst the bill is a little on the long and bulbous side.
Glaucous-winged Gull, Adult: Roberts Lake, Monterey, California, USA - 26th November 2009
Taken in very overcast conditions the upper-parts are unnaturally dark here however this bird could be a hybrid as perhaps the low light alone cannot account for the mid bluish-grey upper-parts and 'slaty/dusky' grey primaries; perhaps a hybrid. Compare with the typical Western Gull behind.
