The following photo pages have mainly been set up to display the gulls of the world, or at least those that I have managed to photograph.
In terms of European and North American species I have added identification text and for these species I have used typical individuals which should hopefully aid in the identification to majority of birds encountered. I have also included some less than typical birds to illustrate the high variability of gulls, most notably the larger species.
As time goes by I intended to add more species to the list whilst also replacing older and poorly digiscoped images with either better quality or more instructive pictures.
Gulls are both highly variable and complex and often provide significant identification challenges but the rewards can extremely satisfying for those willing to give them a try.
