Iceland Gull, Adult, Hole Haven Creek, Essex 27th February 2008
The highlight of the winter gull watching sessions at the creek (above and below)
Iceland Gull, adult, Orkney Mainland 13th December 2002
A very early attempt at digiscoping using Kowa TSN824 and Nikon Coolpix 995 hence the rather grainy image. This bird however was a real stunner and an added attraction whilst twitching the Rufous Turtle Dove nearby.

Iceland Gull - Larus glaucoides
Adults
Adult, Nimmo's Pier, Galway, Ireland 22nd February 2009
Photographed with Canon 1D MkIII with Canon 500mm F4 Prime Lens
Note the small lemon-yellow bill, the small head, pale grey upper-parts, long 'white' primary projection and the bright pink legs. The eye is strikingly pale with dark red orbital ring. The white tertial crescent is large with no contrast with the primaries.
Adult, Nimmo's Pier, Galway, Ireland 22nd February 2009
Photographed with Canon 1D MkIII with Canon 500mm F4 Prime Lens
Same bird as above. Note in these flight shots the minimal contrast between the white tipped primaries and secondaries, trailing edge, with pale grey upper wing. a strikingly pale bird. The primaries are long and pointed and don't give the blunt tipped impression of a Glaucous Gull.
