A rather pale bird. Note the following features
- Small head, very similar to Iceland Gull in appearance with large eye
- Slender and perhaps weak looking bi-coloured bill
- Brown wash to the outer primaries, especially prominent on the outer webs. Pale contrasting window on the inner primaries.
- Pale/mid brown secondaries lacking strong contrast with the rest of the upper wing
- Rather frosty upper-parts caused by whitish fringes to the coverts and scapulars
- Mid brown tail band with marbling  along the inner edge.
- Primary coverts milky brown and fairly plain with slightly darker outer webs
