The images over the next few pages are in trip order except where comparisons between species has been made. For more information go to my New Zealand trip report. For images of some of the worlds best seabirds, the Albatrosses, click on the link to go straight to those pages. Seven pelagics and a Whale Watching trip were made out of Kaikoura and with so many seabirds just feet away one of my all time favourite and most memorable birding experiences, ever. The weather was generally quite rough during our trip which resulted in not getting to Stewart Island thus not getting to Mason Beach for the Kiwi. The weather also meant that a couple of other endemics were missed, New Zealand Falcon and all the Kiwi's on south island whilst it also hindered our chances of doing more scenic flights though perseverance eventually paid off at Mt. Cook.
This Australasian Gannet colony at Muriwai on North Island was amongst the first birding stops made on arriving in New Zealand. Great views if the colony and bid riding the updrafts of the nearby cliffs

A pair of Paradise Shelducks were present on one of the small pools on the Island of Tiritiri Matangi.
To get Stitchbird a visit to Tiritiri Matangi is essential.
Several pairs of the target endemic Takahe were found around the island but it can be found with relative easy on the short grass by the lighthouse.
