Salvin's Albatross
I think this has to be my favourite of the albatrosses that we came across. This species was widespread with the first, a singleton, being seen in the Hauraki Gulf on North Island 10 days before reaching Kaikoura where the majority were seen. Because of storms many were also seen from land at various vantage points around South Island and even from the balcony of the bungalow we stayed at Bushy Beach.
