As with the Swallows many House Martins were brought in by the blocking winds, though not in the shear numbers as seen with Swallows. These birds at Porthlow Beach were amongst the easiest to photograph and even then it wasn't that easy.

Many thousands of Swallows were 'grounded' by the persistent North Easterlies with concentrations at numerous locations around the islands; these birds showed very well right in front of the hide at Porth Hellick where they were clearly knackered.
