Sheryl and I spent only a few days in Peru to allow for a visit to Machu Picchu. Birding was limited during this visit to Lake Huacarpay near Cuzco for half a day, around the grounds of the hotel Pueblo Machu Picchu, around the ruins and along the trail and road back down to town. On the coast a day was spent to the south of Lima taking in coastal areas and dry semi-desert. Despite only a few days a number of very good birds were seen. For more information see my trip report
