First saw this albinistic/albino bird 2 weeks ago but this time round it was readily photographable, an odd bird.

Same bird from the winter still present though now with jet black P10 on the left wing?, how odd is that

Juvenile Herring Gull, Private Site, Essex 8th August 2009
Juvenile Herring Gulls are smart, fresh and tidy compared to the tatty, worn and faded older age classes.
Great Black-backed Gull, Private Site, Essex 31st January 2009
This in flight first-winter individual shows the intricate patterning of the upper-parts off extremely well.

A typically marked individual, note the emergence of some fresh next year scapulars.

Lesser Black-backed Gull, Private Site, Essex 11th April 2009
Lesser Black-backed Gulls are stunning in whatever plumage they are seen in, this bird being a first-winter.

Ring-billed Gull, Westcliff Seafront, Essex 31st August 2009
Surprisingly these images of tatty Rossi in August were the first taken of him this year, I totally missed out on the first winter period it would seem. He still has his old outmost primaries but the new and fresh inner primaries can be seen. The low morning light, cloudy and windy, meant that the images are a sharp as they could have been. Here he's stuff full of bread again.

Two months after the previous images were taken and what a transformation, looking good.
