juvenile Glaucous Gull, Pitsea Tip 7th February 2009
This cracker was was watched for about 15 minutes and was seen again. It did however perform superbly.
2nd winter Glaucous Gull & 1st winter Caspian Gull, Pitsea Tip 7th February 2009
This is now the second time I've manage to photographed these two species together locally.
These pages will be added to when new photos are taken
Caspian Gull, 3rd winter, Pitsea Tip, Essex 31st January 2009
A rather tatty bird but the closest Caspian Gull I've ever seen, down to at least 10 feet at one point.
Caspian Gull, 1st winter, Pitsea Tip, Essex 31st January 2009
A classic individual
Herring Gull, Adult, Pitsea Tip, Essex 31st January 2009
Note the colour of the legs, probably of the so called 'Omissus' form found in the Baltic.
2nd winter Glaucous Gull, Pitsea Tip 7th February 2009
A large bird was initially seen here on 24th January but was not photographed then so great to be able to get a proper crack at it this time tound.
Iceland Gull, Pitsea Tip, Essex 14th February 2009
This is about the best image I got of the bird, a digiscoped effort at range.
Glaucous Gull, Pitsea Tip, Essex 14th February 2009
This bird was a long way off in the fields of Bowers Gifford. It appears to be a 2nd or 3rd Winter Glaucous Gull, unfortunately it was never seen any closer than this.
Caspian Gull, 1st winter, Pitsea Tip, Essex 28th February 2009
A large bird with a rather large Gonydeal expansion for a Caspian Gull so presumably this is a male bird. All other features fit with this being a cachinnans.
Iceland and Glaucous Gulls, Pitsea Tip, Essex 14th February 2009
Double trouble, juvenile / 1st winter birds at long range.
1st winter Herring Gull, Pitsea Tip 7th February 2009
First saw this albinistic/albino bird 2 weeks ago but this time round it was readily photographable, an odd bird.
Great Black-backed Gull, Pitsea Tip, Essex 31st January 2009
This in flight first-winter individual shows the intricate patterning of the upper-parts off extremely well.
Mediterranean Gull, Southend Pier, Essex 11th January 2009
A typically attractive bird
adult Kittiwake, Southend Pier, Essex 4th January 2009
This smart bird lingered around the pier head for an hour.
Iceland Gull, Pitsea Tip, Essex 28th February 2009
A paler, less well marked and more prominently two toned billed bird than that here two weeks ago
