High Island, Texas - April 2008
Gulls

American Herrings Gulls were actually not that numerous with only a few found at Bolivar Flats. The birds here are from that location with a 1st-year above and a 2nd-year in flight below. Virtually all  birds seen were non-adults.

Laughing Gulls. There were quite a lot seen throughout the trip though most concentrations were along the Bolivar Peninsula at Rollover Pass and the Galveston Ferry Terminal/crossing. Again the Rollover Pass car park at high tide proved invaluable in obtaining decent photos of these birds with a flock present throughout that numbered about 150-200 birds. Some were clearly paired up. They may common but they're great.

This 1st-year Boneparte's Gull was amongst the gull and tern flock that was present at Rollover Pass car park. It was the only one of the trip and was only seen on the first day. Most Boney's have departed the area by the end of the first week of April.
