American Bitterns at Brazos Bend State Park are known to show well. This bird walked across the path directly in front of me and in the exact same place I saw one in winter in 2001; by the observation tower.
Least Bitterns were only encountered at Anahuac where they were fairly numerous

Black-crowned Night Herons were uncommon away from Brazos Bend State Park where many were seen during a late afternoon-evening visit. However the bird above performed very well at Anahuac whilst the bird below was at Brazos Bend.
Yellow-crowned Night Herons are stunning when seen right up close. For great views, down to a mere few feet, a visit to Brazos Bend State Park would not disappoint; stunning.
