The common egret, the Snowy, was perhaps a little more accessible than the Great Egret in that it would often stand in car parks next to wetland areas, here next to Rollover Pass along Bolivar Peninsula at High Tide.
Great Egrets are common all around the coastal areas and inland wetlands. The Rookery at Smith Oaks Wood, High Island is an ideal location to watch these birds at close range whilst nesting; both the above are from the Rookery whilst the below shows part of that very location.
Cattle Egrets were the third common egret species encountered, often in large flocks in fields and around wetlands; this bird was at Anahuac.
