Finches & Buntings
The occurrence of Indigo Buntings was erratic from little groups to scattered singles. On the last day of the trip a front brought in many birds which included a continuous passage of birds flying over or passing through the trees. This bird was close the grandstand at Boy Scout wood, stunning.
Painted Bunting is probably North Americans most colourful bird and a highly sort of bird for most visitors. I had the please of two males to myself at the photo blind at Boy Scout Woods one afternoon.
Northern Cardinal (male above and female below) are frequently seen around the woods at High Island and Sabine Woods.
Common at Anahuac Savannah Sparrows were often seen right by the car on the short grass by the driving tracks.
