High Island, Texas - April 2008
Shrikes & Wrens
<< Back to Passerine Index

Loggerhead Shrikes were common and widespread but difficult to photograph as they had a tendency to fly off across marshes and fields the minute you get into position to get some shots. This bird is the best that I could manage at Tuna Road.

The common wren, Carolina Wrens were pretty much in all woods whilst the pair at Brazos Bend State Park were rather interested in the camera shutter sound which was ideal as it kept them in one place and highly visible.
