High Island, Texas - April 2008
Spoonbills & Ibis

White-faced Ibis Anahuac. This species is abundant here

White Ibis common and widespread. This particular immature bird was at Yacht Basin Road along Bolivar Peninsula; adults are a lot whiter with scarlet face.

For the best views of Roseate Spoonbills in all their finery visit Smith Oaks Rookery in the evening when the sun will be from behind you. Spoonbills were widespread and common and good views can be had at several locations but here seemed to be best.
