Waders : page 6
The top two images of Greater Yellowlegs are from Retillion Road, the access road down to Bolivar Flats. Over a very high tide period lots of waders were pushed further up to towards the road and both Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs were in a roadside flooded ditch but mere feet away; I just couldn't get them together in the same frame.
The third image is from the flooded fields east of Winnie
Both of the above images of Lesser Yellowlegs are from the ditch along Retillion Rd
The car park to the east of Rollover pass on the bay side was productive for waders over several high tides with Willets; American Golden Plover and this Lesser Yellowlegs being encountered during several visits.
One of the few comparison shots I was able to obtain; it is slightly disappointing that the Greater Yellowlegs (left) was not out of the water but you get an idea of differences in size and structure of these once considered difficult to ID species. These birds were at the flooded fields east of Winnie.
