Sociable Plover, St. Marys, Isles of Scilly 13th October 2008
A frantic dash to the airfield was in order for this first for the Scillies. It was watched from the Windsock in failing light and closing fog. Next morning it had relocated to the Standing Stones field where these shots are taken. Later it moved to Telegraph though I never managed o get up there for it as I was always on St. Agnes.

This bird was seen well from the windsock on the airfield, often in the company of Eurasian Golden Plover and a Buff-breasted Sandpiper. More images here

Seen prior to the Lower Moors bird it was a little more distant but even when it was close it was always against the sun.
