Western Gull - Larus occidentalis
Fourth-years
Western Gull, fourth winters: Roberts Lake Park, Monterey, California, USA - 11th March 2007
The following images are of near adults, aged as such mainly due to the brownish tinged wing coverts, small or lack of wing mirrors or spots and darkish markings on the bill.

Western Gull, 4th winter: Bodega Bay, California, USA - 28th November 2009
Much like an adult however note the remnant brown markings in the wing coverts and tertials and the dark bill marks.
Western Gull, 4th winter: Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California, USA - 13th November 2009
Very adult like with the rather large dark mark on the bill pointing towards the bird being a near adult. This is probably of the form occidentalis
